Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Cerakote, and why is it used on firearms?

Cerakote is a ceramic-based finish that provides superior durability, corrosion resistance, and a wide range of color options. It’s widely used on firearms to enhance both performance and aesthetics.

Is Cerakote better than other firearm finishes like bluing or anodizing?

Yes. Cerakote offers greater protection against wear, corrosion, and harsh environments than traditional finishes. It also provides a customizable look without compromising performance.

Can you Cerakote complete firearms or just individual parts?

We can apply Cerakote to individual components or complete firearms. As a licensed 07 FFL, we are authorized to receive and work on serialized firearm parts as well.

Do I need to disassemble my firearm before sending it to you?

No, we offer full disassembly and reassembly services. However, if you prefer to send parts only, that’s fine too—just be sure they’re cleaned and properly labeled.

How long does the Cerakote process take?

Turnaround times vary based on project complexity and current workload, but most projects are completed within 2–4 weeks. Please note, this timeline is an estimate and lead times may vary based on material availability or shipping couriers.

Will Cerakote affect the function or fit of my firearm?

No. When applied professionally and to proper tolerances, Cerakote does not interfere with function or reliability. We take extra care to mask critical areas.

Can I choose custom colors or patterns?

Absolutely. We offer a wide range of Cerakote factory colors, as well as custom camo, battle-worn, stenciled, or themed designs. If you have a vision, we’ll help bring it to life.

What is your pricing for Cerakote services?

Pricing depends on the firearm type, number of parts, and the complexity of the design. Contact us for a free quote tailored to your project.

Is Cerakote permanent? Will it wear off over time?

While no finish is completely indestructible, Cerakote is extremely durable and will last for years with normal use. It resists scratching, chipping, and chemical damage better than most finishes.

Do you offer any warranty or guarantee on your work?

Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship. If there’s a defect in the application or premature wear under normal use, we’ll make it right.

Can you Cerakote non-firearm items too?

Yes! We also Cerakote knives, tools, motorcycle parts, tumblers, and more. If it’s metal, polymer, or even certain ceramics, we can probably coat it.

How do I ship my firearm to you?

We’ll provide clear instructions once your work order is confirmed. As an 07 FFL, we can legally receive shipments from individuals and FFL dealers. All return shipments are handled in compliance with federal law.

Shipping Your Firearm

Please review each courier’s guidelines for packaging, labeling, and shipping requirements before mailing your items to us. Below is some general information to help you get started:

  • All firearms must be shipped UNLOADED. No ammunition may be included in the package.

  • You must declare to the courier that the package contains a firearm.

  • USPS does not accept handguns for shipment. To ship handguns, revolvers, or handgun frames, you must use FedEx or UPS.

  • Firearms returned to you must be sent to the address listed in the return address section of your label. Please double-check this information to avoid unnecessary delays.

  • Be sure to include a copy of your driver’s license and the completed Work Order Agreement. We receive multiple firearm shipments daily, and this documentation helps ensure your items are properly identified and not delayed or misrouted.

  • Do not ship any items until you’ve received instructions from our team.
