Join Phalanx Academy’s Defensive Training Institute for an in-depth handgun training experience, hosted right here at SafeFire. This two-day course series is designed to help shooters of varying experience levels strengthen their firearm skills in lowlight scenarios.

Case studies consistently show that the majority of violent encounters occur between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Operating effectively in low-light and no-light environments requires more than basic firearm proficiency—it demands refined indexing, automaticity, and the ability to perform under stress without full visual confirmation.

This course is designed to provide a safe, structured environment where students can develop and apply these critical skills in realistic conditions.

This is not a beginner-level course. All attendees must have a solid, vetted understanding of firearm safety and basic manipulation prior to attending.

Firearms & Magazines

• 1 serviceable handgun (9mm / .40 / .45 ACP / 10mm)
• Minimum of 3 handgun magazines

Loadout & Gear

• Strong-side OWB (outside-the-waistband) holster
• Support-side OWB magazine pouch
• Flashlight pouch

Lighting Equipment

• Handheld (free-hand) flashlight
• Pistol-mounted flashlight (optional)

Protective Equipment

• Eye protection
• Hearing protection (electronic highly recommended)

Support Equipment

• Spare batteries (lights, hearing protection, etc.)
• Tools for maintaining/servicing equipment

Recommended Gear
